Odyssey-Thurlestone Vineyard
The Odyssey-Thurlestone Vineyard was planted in 1999, with our first vintage in 2002. The vineyard is located in the extreme northwest point of Edna Valley under the slope of Mt. Islay, benefiting from the cool Pacific Ocean air and one of the longest growing seasons. We were drawn to this vineyard, dedicated entirely to Pinot Noir, specifically for the low yields and clonal variety.
Soil and climate
The volcanic soil and ancient marine sediment here underwent conditioning for a period of two and half years before planting, totaling an unprecedented six years before the first commercial crop was obtained. Clones 667, 777, and Pommard clones form the core of this wine. The finished wine can best be described as inherently elegant and Burgundian. |
